What is Heaven Like? - Part 3

OPENING PRAYER:

God, we know this earthly body will not last, ashes to ashes and dust to dust. Help us to please you. Let us realize that we are working only for you and no one else.

READ: Matthew 5:10-12, 2 Corinthians 5:1-10, Colossians 3:23-25, 1 Peter 1:3-5

Heaven is our inheritance. We have the spirit that lives in us and gives us hope. Our earthly body will pass away and we will receive a new body. Our reward is in heaven!

REFLECT:

Some of us will be persecuted because we are Christian, but take heart, we will be rewarded in heaven! We long for the new body in heaven. I am longing for that perfect body, are you? The hard part of the passage in Corinthians is that we will be judged for the things we did here on Earth. Whatever we do, we need to do it with joy in our heart for the Lord. Jesus rose from the dead to give us hope, new life and an everlasting soul.

APPLY:

I know that working for the Lord is sometimes hard because I teach teenagers every day. Some days they have a demeanor that says, “I know better than you teach!” I must pray, while I am in the classroom, to remember I am working for Him and Him only. I need to show the love of Christ in everything I do. Praying for patience has helped me to remember that God must be shaking his head at me some days of the crazy things I do and think. Salvation is forever and that is miraculous!

CLOSING PRAYER:

God thank you for giving us a chance to show our love for you by the way we live. Thank you for sending Jesus your son to die on the cross for our sins. Thank you for forgiveness each day when we mess up.
