God’s Truth produces Faith

OPENING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, forgive me for not studying Your Word more faithfully. Help me to do better. Amen…

READ: Romans 10:17 NIV

“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” Romans 10:17 NIV

REFLECT:

Barry Gibb, oldest brother of the Bee Gees musical group once said “there is no truth only perception”. In the world, he is right. Apart from the God, truth does not exist. It is typical to have differing opinions result from one incident. Three men can be sitting next to each other, listening to the same sermon, yet all have differing opinions about that same sermon. In man’s eye, perception is truth. Can it be that are we looking for truth in all the wrong places? As we search for genuine truth we will find it if we search in the right place.

APPLY:

Reading and understanding God's truth helps our faith and ability to trust Him. In today’s society everyone has their own idea of what they perceive as truth. Apart from God we are only viewing life and our world through our own minds and the perception of what we believe we see. The only way to truth is to learn and grow in understanding of the Lord. Jesus said “I am the way the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” John 14:6 KJV. When we study the Bible we learn about God, and He reveals truth. When we see genuine truth, our faith deepens and we can trust Him more fully. How can we deny genuine truth? Truth is not an observation or a viewpoint, it’s a person and His name is Jesus.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father; teach me Your truth and help my faith to grow. “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 NIV Amen…
