Faith is Trusting
OPENING PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, grant me your wisdom so I can grow in faith and trust you completely. Amen…
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen..” Hebrews 11:1 NKJV
REFLECT:
It is normal for children to trust their parents; when they are hurt, when they are frightened, or if they get lost they automatically called out to “mommy” or “daddy”. As a child instantly embraces their parent, instinctively they trust and feel at peace. From generation to generation this is the nature of a child. Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.” Matthew 18:3 NLT Our faith needs to resemble that of a child’s and God wants us to trust Him like a child trusts their parent.
APPLY:
Faith is trusting on the unseen promises of God and the unforeseeable ways that He will carry out His will and promises in our lives. When we full heartedly trust like a child, faith grows within us. How can we have faith in someone we don’t trust? It is impossible. The more we know God and His faithful nature the more our faith will grow. “…Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6 NKJV As a parent, it is natural for trust to be a bond with their child. Likewise, our Heavenly Father wants us to know we can trust Him. When we take steps of faith to build our trust in Him, we will see how trustworthy He is!
CLOSING PRAYER:
Heavenly Father; It is our desire to “lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares, and run with endurance the race that is set before us”. Hebrews 12:1b NKJV Help me to learn and grow in my faith. Amen
