Faith to Break-Out

OPENING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, I desire to break out of my status-quo life and grow more into the person You created me to be. Amen…

READ: Exodus 3:2 TLB

“…the Angel of Jehovah appeared to him as a flame of fire in a bush. Moses saw that the bush was on fire and that it didn’t burn up.” Exodus 3:2 TLB

REFLECT:

This illustration in Exodus of Moses seeing the burning bush shows that we can trust God to surround us yet not destroy us. In God’s Word, fire is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. For those who are part of God’s family we can encounter His Spirit and be consumed with His power and love yet not be harmed. When we leave our status quo life-style and turn to love and serve God we will be surrounded by Him and find victory in His strength. We can have faith to break out because we know God hears us and that he is with us through whatever he calls us to.

APPLY:

Moses felt he was unqualified to take on the task of facing Pharaoh, but God saw something different. God wanted to use Moses’ weaknesses to show His strength. Honestly, is anyone really capable of fulfilling God’s call on their own? We all need to have faith, and trust in the Lord’s intervention to accomplish the task before us. Paul said it well in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NIV, Jesus said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” And Paul responded “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

As God’s Spirit leads, have the faith to break-out. Don’t focus on the circumstances, on the fire, or on our own understanding. In Daniel 3, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego went into the fiery furnace, yet there were four men standing in the fire. The Holy Spirit was with them and as they walked out of the furnace no burns or not even the scent of smoke was detected on them. Trust God to protect and guide you through your fires and He will break you out of the chains that hold you.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for showing me that I can trust you to break me out of even the most difficult challenges. I trust in You for every area of my life. Amen…
