Trusting in God's Timing
OPENING PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, as we spend time with you today, teach us to trust in Your perfect timing. May we learn to wait on You with hope and confidence. Amen.
"The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
In this passage, Peter addresses the apparent delay in the Lord's return, emphasizing God's patience and desire for all to come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)
REFLECT:
Pastor Elliott's message highlighted the patience of God as a model for our own patience. God's timing is perfect, and His patience is rooted in His love and desire for all to come to repentance. This perspective challenges us to trust in God's timing, even when it seems slow by our standards.
In 2 Peter 3:9, we are reminded that God's patience is not a sign of slowness but of His mercy and grace. He is patient with us, giving us time to turn to Him and experience His love and forgiveness. This understanding of God's patience should inspire us to extend the same patience to others, trusting that He is at work in their lives.
As we navigate the challenges and uncertainties of life, we are called to trust in God's timing. This trust requires surrendering our own agendas and expectations, believing that God knows what is best for us. Let us be encouraged to wait on the Lord, knowing that His plans are for our good and His glory.
APPLY:
Reflect on an area of your life where you are struggling to trust in God's timing. Surrender this area to Him in prayer, asking for the patience and faith to wait on His perfect plan.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will take action by patiently sitting at the feet of Jesus.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Closing Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your perfect timing and patience with us. Help us to trust in Your plans and to wait on You with hope and confidence. Amen.
