Borrowed Vision: The Gift of Community

OPENING PRAYER:

Gracious God, thank You for the community of believers who help us see You more clearly. May we learn to lean on one another in faith and love.

READ: Proverbs 27:17 (NIV)

"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."

Proverbs 27:17 (NIV)

REFLECT:

Pastor Jarred Peine used a vivid illustration of needing to borrow someone else's vision when blindfolded. This imagery beautifully captures the essence of Proverbs 27:17, where community plays a crucial role in our spiritual clarity. Just as Manoah sought clarity from the angel of the Lord, we too need others to help us discern God's will.

In our spiritual journey, there are times when our vision becomes blurry, and we struggle to see God's direction. Jarred emphasized the importance of having people in our lives who can guide us, not with their own blindness, but with spiritual insight. These are the champions who call out our blind spots and encourage us to grow in faith.

The beauty of Christian community is that it provides a space for shared vision and mutual sharpening. When we invite others into our spiritual journey, we open ourselves to the wisdom and perspective that God provides through them. This week, consider who in your life can be that source of clarity and encouragement, and seek to be the same for others.

I WILL STATEMENT:

I will fix my eyes on Jesus by praying this prayer each day: Heavenly Father, help me stop guessing and start listening. Help me see You clearly, hear You fully, and allow others to walk with me as I follow You simply, one step at a time. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Lord, thank You for the gift of community. Help us to be open to the wisdom of others and to offer our own insights in love and humility. Amen.
