Love Is

OPENING PRAYER:

God, thank you for providing us with guidance each day.

READ: 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV)

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV)

REFLECT:

We are to love like Christ loved and that isn’t always easy. As we read through the description of love in 1 Corinthians, we see that it is quite a hard list to keep. Jesus managed to live in a way that fit this list, but we struggle to live this way most days.

APPLY:

Read through the above scripture and replace the word “love” with your name. Does is sound like it fits? How many of the descriptions in this section of verses could be used to describe you? Think about how you can change your behaviors and priorities to better fit this list of what it looks like to love well.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Jesus, we thank you for being our ultimate example of what love looks like and we ask for your strength and guidance in our efforts to follow your example.
