Look to Who Jesus Is
OPENING PRAYER:
God, help me to see the different ways that you bring truth into our world today.
“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.” Acts 17:24-25
“The word became flesh and took up residence among us. We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
“Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.’” John 18:37
REFLECT:
Jesus wasn’t just any man. He was fully man when he walked this earth, but his glory was evident to all around him. It is also evident to all of us as we read the accounts of his time here and experience him every day in our own lives. His grace toward others and his truth telling set him apart.
Even though God humbled himself to be born a helpless baby, he was (and is) still all powerful. He is the provider of all and gives us gifts every day and in every moment.
APPLY:
We get caught up in the lies of this world pretty easily. We believe that we’re not good enough or we don’t deserve love. We believe that we are the only ones that feel a certain way or that we don’t belong.
The list of lies goes on…but Jesus said he came for this purpose – to bear witness to the truth. God whispers to us that we are his and that he is Truth and Love. Are you listening and believing?
By taking time to reflect on who Jesus is and the message he came to deliver, you allow the Truth to win over the lies. Take time today to put your eyes on Jesus and who he was and is.
CLOSING PRAYER:
God, thank you for the reminders to listen to truth and not to the lies in the world around me. Help me to keep my eyes on you and your goodness and be on the side of the truth.
