Look to Who God Is

OPENING PRAYER:

God, open my eyes to see you today.

READ: 2 Corinthians 1:20, John 8:56 (NIV)

For every one of God’s promises is “yes” in Him. Therefore, the “Amen” is also spoken through Him by us for God’s glory. 2 Corinthians 1:20

“Your father Abraham was overjoyed that he would see my day; he saw it and rejoiced.” John 8:56

REFLECT:

Abraham was promised all kinds of things. It would have been very easy to doubt that God would follow through, but God kept his promises to Abraham. Jesus testified that Abraham saw all of the promises fulfilled and rejoiced.

Throughout scripture and history, we see God make promises to his people and then we see those promises fulfilled. Let this be a reminder to recount and rejoice for the promises we’ve seen God fulfill in our lives. We need to recognize these things in our own lives and share this testimony of God’s goodness.

APPLY:

God – the Father, Son, and Spirit – all have many names. Many tell of the goodness of God and are a testament of the faithfulness we find in our Creator.

Think about the nicknames you may have in your family. Many are born out of memories or fondness, some are born out of familiarity. Nicknames always form out of relationship.

Think about the goodness of God – in all his forms – and reflect on what names you connect with in scripture. Jehovah Jireh? Abba Father? Friend of Sinners? Wonderful Counselor? The list goes on and on – reflect on Scripture and how you can look to who you know God to be in your own experience.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Father, Son, and Spirit – Help me to reflect on who I know you to be and help me show you to others.
