God’s Word Gives Us Direction For Our Daily Lives

OPENING PRAYER:

Help me see you today Jesus and where you are leading me. Amen.

READ: Psalm 119:105, James 1:22

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalm 119:105

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:22

REFLECT:

Often in life we get in situations and ask ourselves this question: “what would God have me do right now if he would talk to me??” It is a question we all ask because we want to know we are heading in the right direction.

The good news is, we know what to do and the way we know is to read God’s word. The Bible is God’s holy word. The Bible is so rich in its content and so potent in the direction it gives. The Bible is full of life-giving words that fill our souls and stir our hearts closer to God.

APPLY:

The Bible is God’s word to you, it is what God would say to you right now. The scripture above says don’t just hear it but do it. There was a famous preacher one that was talking about what to do in tough circumstances and he said “ain’t nothing to it James 1:22 it.”

He was saying, find what God’s word says about it and let it conform and renew your mind to align with God’s character. For example, if we want to know what to do about gossiping, we can look at Proverbs 21:23 we cans see that not gossiping is keeping souls from trouble. If we want to know what to do with our money, we can see Hebrews 13:5 which talks about keeping our lives free of the love of money. God’s word is fully loaded with rich wisdom waiting to be learned and applied.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Jesus, help me to live in a way I’m not just hearing your word but I’m doing what it says. Amen.
