Be Christ-Like

OPENING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, I desire to live my life imitating You. Help me to walk daily in Your love. Amen…

READ: Ephesians 5:1-2 NIV

“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2 NIV

REFLECT:

We have a friend who loves to talk! Whenever we’re together we can’t even get a word in edgewise. She doesn’t know what a period is. Every sentence ends in a conjunction; and, but, because, etc. etc. etc… I love this person but having a conversation is majorly difficult. In our relationship with the Lord do we do all the talking? Do we give the Spirit a chance to communicate? Do we listen?

APPLY:

If our true desire is to be Christ-like, how can we really know Him if we don’t listen to His Spirit or read His Word? Our world is a busy place. We have so many places to go, people to see, and things to do. How can we become Christ-like if our focus is constantly drawn away from the Christian basics? We must set priorities to accomplish the important things in life. I tend to over obligate myself only to be stressed out and accomplishing very little. As followers of Christ we must make listening to Him a priority. Only when we seek Him will we find Him. “ … call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:12-13 NIV. When we take time to listen to the Lord we will be changed by Him. Only then can we imitate Him and be a living breathing Jesus to those around us.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father; help me to shut out the sounds of the world so I might hear Your voice more clearly. Amen.
