New Beginnings

Brian and Kim Ludlum’s story is all about new beginnings. They are living proof that God is in the business of restoring what was dead and bringing it back to full, vibrant life. The power of Christ through the church, and in community, saved their marriage, their family, and their future.

Kim was raised Catholic. Brian didn’t grow up in the church. For the first fifteen years of their marriage, they attended the Catholic church. They found themselves wanting more, but weren’t sure where to look. They visited many different churches over the years. Kim says, “It was difficult to find a church home where we felt true genuine love and compassion.”

Brian and Kim found what they were looking for at Pathway. After attending for a few months, they heard about the soon-to-open Goddard Campus. “We were so excited when we heard that Pathway was starting a campus so close to us,” says Kim. “We became part of the launch team, and the Goddard Campus has been our home ever since.”

But, things aren’t always what they seem. Even though Brian and Kim looked like they had it all together at church, things were falling apart at home. One Saturday morning Brian recalls telling Kim, “Something’s not right.” He was tormented inside because he didn’t have the feelings toward her that he knew a husband should have for his wife. “It was devastating,” Kim says. “I didn’t expect this at all.” Shortly after, Brian moved out.

“Things got worse before they got better,” Brian says. “After about six months I decided I was willing to make one last-ditch effort to try to salvage our marriage.”

Feeling lost and not knowing where to turn, Kim stopped by Pathway Family Counseling one afternoon. After a few weeks of attending counseling alone, Brian started going also. It was a hard battle but one they both knew was worth it. God was truly working miracles in their marriage and building up their relationship with God. Brian also began attending a men’s accountability group, and both Brian and Kim began volunteering in the children and student ministries at the Goddard Campus.

God has also challenged Brian and Kim to be generous with their finances. “Through Accelerate, we’ve been amazed to watch the growth of the Goddard campus and plans to build a permanent facility. We know it will help us better serve others in our community and connect people to Christ.” “Giving is sometimes a challenge,” says Kim, “but He always takes care of us. He always provides more than we need.”

As the Goddard Campus celebrates its second anniversary and Brian and Kim celebrate their 25th; it’s a great time to celebrate new beginnings. “God has worked miracles in our life, and we’re so excited about what He has in store for us and Pathway Church.”
