Generosity Story: Joey & Kayla Deneke

During their search for a new church home, Joey and Kayla Deneke were invited to Pathway by a friend. After six months of attending services, they made the decision that they were ready to become more active at Pathway.

The Denekes decided to step out in faith and get plugged in and they found that was a great way to feel more connected. Now, they know Pathway truly is their church home and that’s a great feeling. Kayla says, “We’ve never been part of a place that is so devoted to being there for the community above all else.”

Joey and Kayla have had the opportunity to be actively involved at Pathway in various ways, but one of the most important ways they engaged in their faith and in their church home has been through their finance

They attended a Financial Peace University* course early in their marriage and found that it was a game-changer. It helped Joey and Kayla align their financial goals as newlyweds and helped them conquer their debt.

While in the process of paying off their debt, they made a commitment to be faithful in their giving. They continued to trust God with their finances through all the ups and downs of that time. “Tithing was never something we thought about stopping,” said Kayla.

The Denekes decided to join another Financial Peace session as a refresher on their financial health and to seek out next steps as they continued to grow in their financial situation, their marriage, and in their faith.

God continued to be faithful the second time around. Joey and Kayla found that the Financial Peace community was a deep well of value. It provided treasured guidance and helped them sort through things that can sometimes be confusing when it comes to investments and retirement planning.

Joey and Kayla continue to look for ways to engage at Pathway Church and are committed to serving faithfully in ways they feel God is providing for them. They are now giving back in a new way: By co-leading a Financial Peace University* group*.

As co-leaders, they are excited to meet people just like them—starting a journey toward faithful, financial health. They know the beginning of this road can seem stressful and overwhelming. They look forward to walking alongside others from Pathway and continuing to support their group while seeing how God continues to be faithful on the journey.
