Fully Committed Hearts
OPENING PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, as we embark on this journey of devotion, open our hearts to be fully committed to You. May Your Holy Spirit guide us in understanding and applying Your Word. Amen.
"For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him."
2 Chronicles 16:9
This passage reminds us of God's active search for those who are wholeheartedly devoted to Him. It emphasizes the importance of commitment and the strength that God provides to those who are faithful.
REFLECT:
This weekend, Pastor Carter’s message highlighted the importance of having a heart fully committed to God, as seen in the example of the children who made commitments to God. This mirrors the message in 2 Chronicles 16:9, where God actively seeks those who are devoted to Him. The historical context of this passage is during the reign of King Asa, who initially trusted God but later relied on human alliances. This serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining our commitment to God, even when faced with challenges.
In our lives, we often face distractions and temptations that can pull us away from our commitment to God. Todd’s message encourages us to examine our hearts and ensure that we are fully devoted to His mission. This involves not only our spiritual lives but also how we use our resources. The commitment of our kids and students at Pathway serves as a powerful example of pure devotion, reminding us that God values the sincerity of our hearts over the magnitude of our actions.
As we reflect on this, consider what it means to be fully committed to God in your own life. Are there areas where you are holding back? Are there idols or distractions that are taking precedence over your relationship with God? Todd’s message challenges us to identify these areas and surrender them to God, trusting that He will strengthen us as we commit our hearts to Him.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will examine my heart and resources to identify any idols and make a commitment to All Things New.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Lord, thank You for the reminder to be fully committed to You. Help me to identify and remove any idols or distractions in my life. Strengthen my heart as I seek to serve You wholeheartedly. Amen.
