Building a Legacy of Love and Faith
OPENING PRAYER:
Dear God, as we consider the legacy we are building, fill our hearts with love and faith. May our lives reflect Your goodness and inspire others to follow You. Amen.
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
1 Corinthians 13:1-3
REFLECT:
Pastor Carter’s message challenges us to consider the legacy we are leaving behind. While financial gifts and acts of service are important, the greatest legacy we can leave is one of love and faith. Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians remind us that love is the foundation of all we do. Without it, our actions, no matter how impressive, lack true value.
In our pursuit of building a legacy, it’s easy to focus on tangible achievements and overlook the importance of love. Yet, as the message highlights, love is what truly impacts those around us and leaves a lasting impression. Love is patient, kind, and selfless. It seeks the good of others and reflects the heart of God. As we strive to leave a legacy, we must prioritize love in our relationships and actions.
This means being intentional about how we treat others, how we use our resources, and how we live out our faith. It means choosing to forgive, to serve, and to give generously, even when it’s difficult. As we do this, we reflect the love of Christ and inspire others to do the same. Our legacy becomes not just about what we’ve accomplished, but about the lives we’ve touched and the love we’ve shared.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will create a legacy through my commitment to All Things New.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Lord, thank You for the reminder that love is the greatest legacy we can leave. Help us to love others as You have loved us, and may our lives be a testament to Your goodness. Amen.
