Trusting in God's Provision

OPENING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, as we reflect on Your provision today, help us to trust in Your faithfulness. May we learn to rely on You in all circumstances, knowing that You are our provider. Amen.

READ: Matthew 6:25-34

“Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

In this passage, Jesus teaches about the futility of worry and the importance of seeking God's kingdom first. He assures us that our Heavenly Father knows our needs and will provide for them.

Matthew 6:25-34

REFLECT:

Trusting in God's provision is a central theme in the Christian life. In Pastor Elliott’s message, we were reminded of the early church's reliance on God as they shared their possessions and lived in unity. Their trust in God's provision allowed them to live generously and fearlessly, even in the face of uncertainty.

Jesus' words in Matthew 6 challenge us to let go of our worries and trust in God's care. He reminds us that our Heavenly Father knows our needs and is faithful to provide for them. This trust frees us from the anxiety that often accompanies our pursuit of material security and allows us to focus on seeking God's kingdom.

Trusting in God's provision requires a shift in our priorities. It means placing our faith in God's promises rather than our own abilities or resources. It challenges us to live with open hands, ready to receive and give as God leads. When we trust in God's provision, we experience the peace and freedom that come from knowing that our lives are in His hands.

I WILL STATEMENT:

I will focus on Jesus and not myself as I make my commitment to All Things New.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness and provision. Help us to trust in Your care and to seek Your kingdom first in all we do. May we live with open hands, ready to receive and give as You lead. Amen.
