Unlikely: Part 3

Communion Moment

Scripture“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” - James 1:5

Reflect: You don't have to figure it out alone. Ask God for wisdom, He promised to give it. Take a few quiet moments to pray.

"...But the thing David had done displeased the Lord." - 2 Samuel 11:27 NIV

"'There were two men in a certain town, one rich and the other poor. The rich man had a very large number of sheep and cattle, but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It shared his food, drank from his cup and even slept in his arms. It was like a daughter to him. Now a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the ewe lamb that belonged to the poor man and prepared it for the one who had come to him.' David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan, 'As surely as the Lord lives, the man who did this must die! He must pay for that lamb four times over, because he did such a thing and had no pity." Then Nathan said to David, 'YOU ARE THE MAN!'" - 2 Samuel 12:1-7A NIV

God loves us enough to confront us

"Then David said to Nathan, 'I have sinned against the Lord.'" - 2 Samuel 12:13 NIV

Humility begins with confession

"For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me." - Psalm 51:3 NIV

Confession owns my sin

"Against You, You only, have I sinned and done what is evil in Your sight." - Psalm 51:4 NIV

Confession grieves what my sin did to God

"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." - Psalm 51:10 NIV

Confession asks God to change my heart

"The sacrifice pleasing to God is a broken spirit. You will not despise a broken and humbled heart, God." - Psalm 51:17 CSB

I will choose confession over concealment
