Crisis Conquering
BIG IDEA:
How to survive a crisis.
TEACHING POINTS:
In crisis, peace is possible.
In crisis, overcoming is inevitable.
SCRIPTURE:
John 16:16-33 NIV
Discussion Guide will be posted on Sunday at 3pm.
OPENING QUESTIONS:
Was there a past hurt or sin that you needed to let go of last week? How did it go?
What is something you are thankful for today?
What is something that was stressful or difficult this week and how can we help?
Share your baptism story with the group if you didn’t do this last week. If you’ve not been baptized, talk about why and maybe what your struggles are with taking this step.
IN THE WORD:
Read
John 16:16-33
out loud from two different translations. Have someone share the setting for this passage (Place, time, context).
Have two people retell the basics of the disciples' questions and Jesus’ responses.
What was the crisis of the moment for the disciples? For Jesus?
What does this teaching tell us about God? What does this teaching tell us about people?
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Is there a crisis in your own life, your own family, that you are going through?
What part of this encounter between Jesus and His disciples could help you in your crisis or with someone you are walking alongside?
How can we pray for you and for each other as we walk with others in the coming week?
