BIG IDEA:
Following Jesus means going and sharing his life-changing message.
TEACHING POINTS:

• Jesus has all authority, which means authority over our lives and others.

• The first part of Jesus’ game plan is for us to go and make disciples wherever we are.

• The second part is to baptize and teach others to follow Jesus by obeying.

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 28:18-20
OPENING QUESTIONS:

1. What did you do for the Care Challenge? How did it go?

2. The next Baptism Celebration is March 6 & 7. Have a few people in the group share their baptism story.

IN THE WORD:

1. What does it mean for our life and the lives of others, even those that don’t believe, that Jesus has authority over us? Matthew 28:18-20

2. How does Jesus’ authority empower and inspire us to “go and make disciples”? Matthew 28:18-20

3. Why do you think Jesus includes baptism? Why is that an important part of following Jesus? Matthew 28:18-20

4. What’s the difference between just teaching someone and teaching them to obey? How does that factor into our relationship with Jesus? Matthew 28:18-20

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

1. If you were going to teach someone to follow Jesus, what three things would you start with and why?

2. Is there anything that prevents you from being the guide someone else needs? Are those things legitimate?

3. Who is in your sphere of influence that you could help take steps to follow Jesus?

4. What will you do this week to be a better disciple or help disciple someone else?
