BIG IDEA:
Saving demonstrates trust in God and care to save others.
TEACHING POINTS:

• We all face seasons of trouble for which we have to be prepared.

• Saving isn’t only about our security but having the power to save others.

• We use our material resources to battle material and spiritual famine in our world.

SCRIPTURE: Genesis 41:47-57
OPENING QUESTIONS:

1. Share something you saved your money for when you were younger.

2. If you received some last week, what was it like carrying around Pastor Carter’s money? What did you do with it?

IN THE WORD:

1. Why did God bless Joseph and Egypt so richly during the seven years of plenty? Genesis 41:47-49

2. What kind of sacrifices do you think the Egyptians made so they could save for the famine? Genesis 41:47-49

3. What sort of temptations did Joseph and the Egyptians face when they were collecting so much grain? Genesis 41:47-49

4. Why did Joseph wait until the famine was severe to give out the food? Genesis 41:50-55

5. What were the immediate results of Joseph and Egypt saving for the years of famine? What else in the Bible happened in the future because of what God did through Joseph? Genesis 41:56-57

5. How have you seen your regular giving or generosity fight spiritual famine in your life or the lives of others.
