OPENING QUESTIONS:

1. What are your 4th of July plans?

2. Who is someone you’ve known that was, or is, a great listener and why?

IN THE WORD:

1. Why does anger not promote “the righteous life that God desires”? James 1:19-20

2. How does James illustrate the importance of obeying God’s Word and not just listening to or reading it? James 1:22-24

3. What is the result of obeying God’s Word? James 1:25

4. What does James mean when he talks about having a “tight rein” on the tongue? Why does the tongue come up so often when we talk about anger? James 1:26

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

1. The culture we live in today seems to be totally ignoring the quick-slow-slow process of James 1:19. How can you help reverse this trend?

2. Why do we, as followers, tend to not follow through in obedience to the Word of God?

3. Which part of the quick-slow-slow process is the most difficult for you and why?

4. What is God saying to you in this week's passage that you need to obey? What step is He leading you to take this week? How can your Home Team hold you accountable?
