BIG IDEA:
Without the hope of a resurrected Savior who defeated death on the cross and overcame the tomb, we would be lost to a world of darkness. Easter changes everything!
TEACHING POINTS:

• All of us will face death someday; no one can escape it.

• Easter is real. There are historical facts that it actually took place.

• Because Jesus conquered death, life is possible for all of us.

SCRIPTURE: Ecclesiastes 8:7-8, John 19:1-42, John 20:1-31, 2 Corinthians 5:17
OPENING QUESTIONS:

1. How did you celebrate Easter this year?

2. What is the physically darkest place you’ve ever been?

IN THE WORD:

1. What is Solomon hoping people understand when they read this passage? Ecclesiastes 8:7-8

2. Take turns reading the crucifixion story. What stands out to you? John 19:17-30

3. Take turns reading the resurrection story and discuss your thoughts. John 20:1-18

4. What does this passage mean when it describes believers as new creations? 2 Corinthians 5:17

1. What kind of impact has actual death or the thought of your own death had on your life?

2. What does the Easter story mean to you? How has it given you life?

3. Think of someone you know that needs the hope and life of the Easter story. How can you share that with them?
