BIG IDEA:
The Savior brings love to our lives so we must love one another.
TEACHING POINTS:

• To love one another we must experience God’s love.

• To love one another we must recognize that we are each God’s gift.

• To love one another we must do so intentionally.

SCRIPTURE: John 13:34-35 NIV; 1 John 4:7-11 NIV; John 3:1-20 NIV; Ephesians 2:1-10 NIV
OPENING QUESTIONS:
  1. How did you share joy in this Christmas season?
  2. What is one thing that you are thankful this Christmas weekend?
  3. What is something that was stressful or difficult this week and how can we help?

IN THE WORD:
  1. Read John 3 NIV and then have someone retell the story. Do you think that Nicodemus experienced God’s love in this encounter with Jesus that night? Why or why not?
  2. What does it mean that you are God’s handiwork? Identify all of the marks that you are God’s gift. Ephesians 2:1-10 NIV
  3. What happens when we intentionally love others? John 13:34-35 NIV; 1 John 4:7-11 NIV

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
  1. In your group or in your family, read John 3:16 NIV individually and wherever you can replace your name with the appropriate pronoun. (For God so loved _____, that He gave His one and only Son that if _____ would believe in Him, _____ would have eternal life.)
  2. What are some ways that you can love others that come from the unique way that God has made you?
  3. Specifically, how will you love one other person this week?
