You Were Made For A Mission

BIG IDEA:
God made you for a mission.
TEACHING POINTS:
  • • We tend to make the wrong things our mission.
  • • God made us to love Him and love our neighbors. That is our mission.
SCRIPTURE: Mark 12:28-31 NIV; John 14:15-17 NIV
OPENING QUESTIONS:
  1. How did you do last week with your "I will" statement? How did people respond to your prayer texts?
  2. What is one thing that you are thankful for from last week?
  3. What is something that was stressful or difficult this week and how can we help?

IN THE WORD:
  1. Read Mark 12:28-34 out loud from two different translations. Split up into groups of 2-3 people and each of you tell the story in your own words as if you were telling it to someone for the first time.
  2. How can you sum up all of the commandments into just these two commandments?
  3. What does this teaching tell us about God? What does this teaching tell us about people?

MAKING IT PERSONAL:
  1. What can you do to provide a meal for someone who is sick or for a healthcare worker this week as a way of showing God's love to them?
  2. How can we pray for you and for each other as we do this in the coming week?

Our "I will" statement this week is: I will show God's love to those who are sick with COVID or to a medical worker this week. Share the names of the 3 people you will text or call this week. Some ideas:

  • • Cook or send a meal
  • • Give a gift card (Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, etc.)
  • • Write an encouraging personal letter
  • • Give a houseplant
  • • Take a Sonic drink or coffee
  • • Make a basket of snacks and goodies
