You Were Formed For God's Family

BIG IDEA:
God made you to be part of His family.
TEACHING POINTS:
  • • We were created to be loved by God and to be part of His family.
  • • In God’s family, we are supported by others.
  • • In God’s family, we are cared for and protected.
SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 1:4-5 NIV; Ephesians 2:21-22 NIV
OPENING QUESTIONS:
  1. How did you do last week with your "I will" statement?
  2. What is one thing that you are thankful for from last week?
  3. What is something that was stressful or difficult this week and how can we help?

IN THE WORD:
  1. Read Ephesians 1:1-5 and Ephesians 2:21-22  out loud from two different translations. These are rich and rambling passages. Make a list of the family characteristics that Paul describes.
  2. Which characteristic is the most meaningful one for you?
  3. What did God give those He called?
  4. What does this teaching tell us about God? What does this teaching tell us about people?

MAKING IT PERSONAL:
  1. If someone asked you why you’re part of a church, which phrase from these passages would you use to in responding to their question?
  2. Who is God asking you to walk alongside this week in their journey to find Jesus or to walk with Him?
  3. How can we pray for you and for each other as we do this in the coming week?

Our I WILL statement this week is: I will text or call three people this week and ask them how I can pray for them. Share the names of the 3 people you will text or call this week.
