God is Always Faithful

OPENING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father open our eyes that we may see your faithfulness when we really need you and we are alone and frightened.

READ:

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. (Deuteronomy 7:9)

He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he. (Deuteronomy 32:4)

Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. (Psalm 36:5)

God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. (1 Corinthians 1:9)

These verses remind us that God is ever faithful, his works are perfect, he keeps his covenant and commandments. Best of all he calls us into the fellowship with his son, Jesus.

REFLECT:

The love of the Lord is beyond our comprehension. God is never wrong. He is faithful and he loves us.

Have you ever found yourself alone, I mean alone? Think about a time in which you had no emails to read and return. No text messages from anyone and no one called you. I remember the sound of our old land line back in the day, we would all run to see who could get to the phone first. Did that happen at your house? Today we seldom have any alone time. We are inundated by friends, family, and our work. Sometimes I plan my tasks to do during my plan period at school and it never fails, I need to cover for a teacher, or a student needs me. I relish the alone times at my school. Do you have a time that you talk to God consistently? I read my devotion early in the morning, because if I do not the world engulfs me. There have been many times in my life when I have been frightened by “what is next” and I can truly say that God always “showed up”! He has always been faithful. The Holy Spirit is with us each and everyday reminding us to call out to God for everything we need, even in our most uncertain and lonely moments.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Loving Father, We praise You for Your faithfulness. On the mountaintop or in the valley, Your goodness does not cease. We pray that goodness flows from us as a natural outpouring of Your Spirit. May we follow Your lead to love and serve with no need for humankind's empty praise. Keep us humble as we walk this path led by Your love. In the name of Your Son Jesus, Amen.
