Christ is Faithful to Forgive

OPENING PRAYER:

God our Father please forgive us of our sins, cleanse us now.

READ: Hebrews 2:17; 2 Timothy 2:13; 1 John 1:9; Revelation 1:4-6

For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. (Hebrews 2:17) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

REFLECT:

Jesus came to Earth as a man so that he could save us from sins! Isn’t that the Best News Ever! We all sin and mess up! Jesus is the savior that enables us to have a direct line to God. Aren’t you glad that there is no interference when we dial 911. God is faithful even when we are not. Because of Jesus blood shed on the cross, God faithfully forgives our sins: past, present and future.

APPLY:

How often do you confess your sins? I do this more than daily. I teach teenagers! I call out to him when I say, do or even think something wrong. Through prayer, we can connect directly to God. He already knows what we did wrong, we just need to admit it, confess it to him. That is what I tell my students, just tell me the truth. Confession has been described as “spiritual breathing”. We confess our sins to God in the same way we exhale the bad air and then we thank God for forgiving us, and take in the good air. Try spiritual breathing as a way to practice confession and thank God for his faithfulness in forgiving you.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Loving Father, We praise You for Your faithfulness. On the mountaintop or in the valley, Your goodness does not cease. We pray that goodness flows from us as a natural outpouring of Your Spirit. May we follow Your lead to love and serve with no need for humankind's empty praise. Keep us humble as we walk this path led by Your love. In the name of Your Son Jesus, Amen.
