Shining Your Message to People Who Are Questioning God

OPENING PRAYER:

Jesus help me today to understand who you are so I can better shine my light to others.

READ: Acts 2:12-16

Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”

Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”

Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: Acts 2:12-16

REFLECT:

Just like in the scripture above, we all see people who are questioning God, know people who are questioning God or have interacted with someone who is questioning God. They may not understand who God is and how He is working in the world and that’s not a bad thing.

We who do believe in Jesus have hope. We have a hope that is not darkened by darkness. It shines brighter in the dark and that gives us a tremendous opportunity even in the cases where people are making fun of us for our beliefs because they just don’t understand.

APPLY:

Next time you encounter someone questioning God and who He is, remember that you know who Jesus is and that you have a message you can share with them. Be encouraged by the fact that the Holy Spirit is in you and that’s the same power that raised Jesus from the grave! You may get to be part of someone's story because you didn’t step away when they didn’t understand.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Dear Jesus, help me have the courage to walk alongside others even when I am not understood. Amen.
