How to Shine Your Message to A Difficult Audience

OPENING PRAYER:

Dear God, thank you for giving me my testimony to share and thank you for giving me new grace every day.

READ: John 9:8-11

His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” Some claimed that he was. Others said, “No, he only looks like him.” But he himself insisted, “I am the man.” “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked. He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.” John 9:8-11

REFLECT:

When we think of difficult people we think about someone who isn’t kind to us, doesn’t want to hang out with us, isn’t really interested in what we have to say or a person that will never respond to your calls giving you the run around time and time again.

It can be difficult shining bright in a dark space like this, especially when you don’t feel like you are making a difference in the life of the other person.

APPLY:

We have to come to a point where we realize how important it is that Jesus gave us a message, it’s our personal story of how Jesus has worked in our life and that is a story worth sharing. It’s important for others to know because just as our story mattered to Jesus their story matters as well.

In the scripture above Jesus didn’t let the fact that the blind man was difficult stop him from getting healed. Jesus still preserved and healed him of his blindness. We may not heal someone from blindness or illness but we sure can persevere and not give up on others.

Remember this when dealing with difficult people: Jesus uses perseverance to eventually show them his presence.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Dear God, help me persevere in shining my light to others around me. Help me to see that you are still working in their life through me. God I trust you with the outcome of this, amen.
