10 Commandments of Love
OPENING PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I love you. Help me to love others. Amen…
“Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” Romans 13:8-10 NKJV
REFLECT:
It has been said you cannot legislate morality and history has seen this to be true. Making more laws does not produce more obedience to any law, in fact it usually results in more frustration and failure. The key to fulfilling God’s law is love. Love fulfills the law. Love fulfills our need. Love shows Jesus’ devotion to the Father. His Love is enough!
In Matthew 5:17 NKJV Jesus said “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.” and Jesus’ life and sacrifice fulfilled the law.
APPLY:
As we compare the 10 Commandments with God’s love we can see the fruit of His love fulfills the law. The fruit of God’s love is…
1. Faithfulness so I will keep God first in my life.
2. Loyalty so I will not worship idols: created or man-made.
3. Devotion so I will never curse using God’s Name.
4. Obedience so I will observe the Sabbath and keep it holy.
5. Respect so I will esteem my parents
6. Compassion so I will not murder.
7. Morality so I will not commit adultery.
8. Generosity so I will not steal.
9. Integrity so I will not lie.
10.Honor so I will not covet.
The fruit of God’s love fulfills the law. All the commandments are summed up in the “Royal Law” that you love your neighbor as yourself. Walk in love daily and watch God’s love change the world around you.
