Sharing Good News

OPENING PRAYER:

Lord help me to see you in my life. Open my eyes to the ways you are working and help me to have a thankful heart for all your blessings.

READ: Matthew 9:27-31

“As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied. Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith will it be done to you.” And their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.” But they went out and spread the good news about him all over the region.”

REFLECT:

These blind men were healed because of their faith in Jesus. I cannot even imagine what it must be like to live with a disability, but to have that disability miraculously lifted would be life-changing, to say the least. Jesus changed the lives of these two men in one moment. Even though Jesus cautioned them to keep this life-changing news to themselves, they could not contain their joy and went on to tell everyone in the region what had happened to them and who had performed this miracle.

Have you ever had good news you just could not keep inside? Part of the reason social media is so popular these days is that we want to share our news with others. Can you imagine keeping the birth of a child, a promotion at work or a new home a secret? No. These happy events change our lives, and we are excited to share this news with those around us.

Understanding that the creator of the universe saw our brokenness and sent his son to atone for our sins so that we are no longer separated from God is news that should inspire such joy that we cannot contain it. We were lost but now we are found. Let this good news of Jesus rest with your soul today. When you truly understand the redemptive love of the Father it should overflow out of you and to those around you by your words and actions.

APPLY:

Find a way to share the good news of Jesus Christ today. Give your testimony, remind a friend that Jesus loves them or share a way that God is working in your life. Get creative with ways that you can express the joy that you have found in Christ.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Lord, let the joy of knowing you and being saved by you flow out of my life. May the words of my mouth bring others the good news of your love and restoration.
