Thriving in Forgiveness

OPENING PRAYER:

Truly Lord God, yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory. All praise to you.

READ: Matthew 18:35

"This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart."

REFLECT:

In this concluding verse, Jesus emphasizes the significance of forgiveness. He reminds us that the forgiveness we extend to others reflects our understanding of God's forgiveness towards us. Forgiveness is not merely a one-time event but a continuous choice to extend grace, just as God extends grace to us continuously. On this final day, let's reflect on the importance of forgiveness in our relationships. Forgiveness allows us to bear with one another and create an environment of love and acceptance. We are called to forgive others as the Lord forgave us, knowing that forgiveness is not always easy or immediate but a process that leads to growth and healing.

APPLY:

Today, reflect on forgiveness as a lifestyle rather than a singular act. Make a commitment to actively practice forgiveness in your relationships, especially with your spouse, showing grace and mercy even in the face of new offenses. Seek to understand their perspective, offer grace, and choose forgiveness even in challenging situations. Trust that God's grace will empower you to thrive in forgiveness. Pray for the ability to let go of past hurts and to cultivate a forgiving heart that mirrors God's abundant grace.

I WILL STATEMENT:

I will allow God’s grace to enable me to forgive my spouse.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of forgiveness and the opportunity to thrive in our relationships. Grant us the strength and wisdom to forgive as you have forgiven us. May our marriages and relationships be a testimony of your grace and love. In Jesus' name, amen.
