The Dance of Selfless Love

OPENING PRAYER:

Spirit of God, teach us the dance of selfless love. May our hearts be attuned to the needs of others, reflecting Your sacrificial love.

READ: 1 Corinthians 7:3-5 (NIV)

"The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer."

1 Corinthians 7:3-5 (NIV)

REFLECT:

Paul's words to the Corinthians offer a radical view of marriage as a mutual giving of oneself. Pastor Carter’s message highlighted that true intimacy is not about demanding our rights but about serving one another in love. This mutual submission is a reflection of Christ's love for the church, where each partner seeks to fulfill the other's needs above their own.

Todd shared that many marriages struggle because of selfishness, where each partner is more focused on their own desires than on serving the other. This is contrary to God's design, where marriage is a partnership of selfless love. When we prioritize our partner's needs, we create a relationship that mirrors the love of Christ, who gave Himself for us.

Reflect on how you approach your relationships. Are you seeking to serve or to be served? The call is to embrace the dance of selfless love, where each step is taken with the other's well-being in mind. As you practice this, you'll find that intimacy deepens, and your relationship becomes a reflection of God's love.

I WILL STATEMENT:

I will take a step in following God's plan for sex at its best.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Father, thank You for the example of selfless love in Jesus. Help us to follow His lead, serving one another with joy and reflecting Your love in our relationships. Amen.
