Rooted in Surrender - Day 5

OPENING PRAYER:

Jesus, thank you for loving us so deeply.

READ:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

REFLECT:

If we truly trust God and believe in who he is, we will live our lives that way. The tangible ways that we serve others – with our time, talents, and treasure – is a direct reflection of our faith.

APPLY:

Spend some time in the coming days asking how you can practically live out your faith.

What would reflect the trust that you have in God? Giving to missionary efforts? Volunteering to work directly with those facing homelessness? Donating and using your influence to collect coats for orphans? Using your vehicle and time to deliver food to those who are hungry? Using your talents to make blankets for grieving widows?

We show others the heart of God when we strive to have a heart FOR God. Surrendering who we are and what we have to his mission of love is a practical way to do just that.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Spirit, guide me as I look for how to live out my faith in a way that honors God and shows others the love of their Heavenly Father.
