Jesus is Our Peace

OPENING PRAYER:

Dear Lord, please help me seek to know you and trust you. The world we live in is broken and challenging. It was not supposed to be this way. Help me find peace in the knowledge of what you have for me when my time here is up.

READ: Psalm 4:8 (NIV)

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8 (NIV)

REFLECT:

Blink your eyes. Now do it again and really think about the amount of time it takes.

Pretty quick, huh?

Now think about the average human lifespan. In America it’s currently about 78 years. That’s a pretty long time, especially compared to how long it takes to blink your eyes. The difference in time between blinking and a lifetime are kind of like the length of time we have here on earth and the eternity that follows, and the eternity part is really quite a bit longer. At any rate, the good news is that no matter what we experience here while we’re alive, good or bad, it is barely a blink-of-the-eyes-worth of time compared to eternity. We all get an eternity of something after we die. Choose to accept Jesus as your lord and savior and find peace knowing the eternity that awaits you is perfect and good.

APPLY:

Jesus suffered an excruciating death on our behalf. Because of that we can have eternal peace if we have accepted His sacrifice. Whenever times are difficult pause, and reflect on the truth of eternal peace. Embrace the truth that pain today is nothing compared to the future that awaits.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Thank you Jesus for being my perfect peace. With you no obstacle is too great, nor is there any pain that is unendurable. Thank you for the comfort you bring today and forever.
