Jesus Loved God

OPENING PRAYER:

Jesus, show us how to love more like you this week.

READ: Matthew 6:9-13

This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

REFLECT:

Jesus is our prime example in a lot of areas – primarily in the way that we should focus on and love God the Father. Even in the way that Jesus tells us that we should pray, he focuses first, and foremost, on the Father’s name and will.

APPLY:

Jesus regularly uses God’s own words to communicate and further his message and mission. We must be Gospel-centered in what we do and should be checking our words and actions (as well as those of our teachers and leaders) against what God tells us in scripture.

Jesus spent intentional time away from the noise of the world in prayer where he could clearly speak with the Father. He showed us how to pray and that it can transform your relationship with God and help keep him at the forefront of your heart and your actions.

CLOSING PRAYER:

God, help focus my heart on you and your will. Let your will be done and your kingdom come.
