Rahab Is an Example Of Real Faith

OPENING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, I open my heart to you now, help me see how I can put my faith in action. Amen.

READ:

“You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone. In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.” (James 2:24-26)

REFLECT:

One of the main things that stand out in the verses above is that Rahab, not even trying to follow God, took a step of obedience by hiding the spies who were men of God. Rahab did something courageous knowing that, if caught, would have to pay harsh consequences. Rahab’s cunning saved the lives of the Israelites by putting her own life at risk and, today, is thought of as a faithful woman of God. Our faith is not an active faith if we’re not doing something with it. Just like Rahab, are you putting your faith to work by making bold moves or doing something that you don’t know will turn out for good?

APPLY:

Do you have faith but do not do anything with it? Could someone look at your life and say you are a faithful and courageous person? What would it look like for you to do what Rahab did and do something bold, to be faithful not knowing what would happen if it didn’t work out.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, help me to identify ways I can take bold steps of faith and trust you with the results. Amen.
