Prayer For The Rescue Of The Unborn From Abortion

OPENING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, thank you for the gifts of life and freedom. Each life is a gift and I plead that You protect the lives of the unborn from the practice of abortion. Shine Your light of love and help on mothers who are struggling and believe abortion to be their only option.

READ: Nehemiah 9:1-3 (NIV)

On the twenty-fourth day of the same month, the Israelites gathered together, fasting and wearing sackcloth and putting dust on their heads. Those of Israelite descent had separated themselves from all foreigners. They stood in their places and confessed their sins and the sins of their ancestors. They stood where they were and read from the Book of the Law of the Lord their God for a quarter of the day, and spent another quarter in confession and in worshiping the Lord their God. Nehemiah 9:1-3 (NIV)

REFLECT:

The issue of sin is as old as humanity. The Apostle Paul expressed this in his letter to the Romans: “When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.” (Romans 5:12 NLT) What was God’s answer to our sin issue: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 NIV) With all the advancements of humanity, these two realities remain. And even with the belief that society has become more civilized, we have become perhaps more barbaric with instituting laws which allow the brutal killing of babies still in the mother’s womb even in the third trimester. Many in our country applaud this as a Constitutional right of freedom. How this must break the heart of our Heavenly Father!

How may Christ Followers respond to our present culture? We need to pray and then do everything within our power to change our laws. But our first action must be to pray! We need to trust and believe that God can and will affect change. The battle belongs to God, so we must pray and fast, and trust His power to change hearts; then offer our worship to God. As believers, we are to be a positive influence in this world. Paul wrote in this manner: “But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumph, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.” (2 Cor. 2:14 RSV)

APPLY:

Spend quality time in daily prayer asking God to intervene by protecting and saving babies being killed by abortion. Ask God to give you a heart for lost people who are clouded in their minds and hearts. A heart that is not condemning, but rather grieving for them because of their lost condition. Then as God provides opportunity, share His message of love and forgiveness, as a sweet fragrance of His love and grace.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Thank you, Jesus, for everything. I pray that I listen to your spirit and Word today. Help me to honor you in everything I do.
