Christmas At The Movies: Week 3 - Day 1
OPENING PRAYER:
Oh Heavenly Father, thank you so much for giving us a way to share your word and fellowship on the Internet. Be with us all as we celebrate the Christmas season and the birth of your precious son Jesus Christ. And it is in his name that I pray, Amen.
"1. Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
“6. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those that earnestly seek him.”
16. Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18. So we fix our eyes on not what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
“6. Therefore, we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the lord. 7. We live by faith, not by sight.”
REFLECT:
As Christ followers, we come to realize that a relationship with God requires the same aspects as being part of a family. Some of them are patience, faith, and trust. And as his followers, we are called to carry out the tasks that he gives us all. And in doing so, there is no easy way. He calls upon us to carry his ways and his truth. He calls us to carry his light into the darkness. Not around the darkness. Straight through it. There is a time when everyone questions God. But as it tells us in scripture, the troubles in our life are only temporary. We can all see that we struggle to serve God in such a cold and cruel world. But what we can’t see is the eternal glory that awaits us in the end. To achieve that in the end, we must trust that God will carry us through our pain and our struggles. In his way and in his time, he will carry out his promise to us. If you want that, you just have to put your faith in his plan.
APPLY:
Let God know that, whatever plan he has for you and whatever task he gave you, you want it. And you will keep walking this journey bold and confident that God will deliver.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Father, thank you for this amazing topic today. Be with us this week as we look over your word to share with others.
