Christmas At The Movies - Week 2 - Day 2

OPENING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, give me courage. Lord help me to realize that I am an extension of your love.  And that you are with me at all times.  Amen.

READ: Matt. 1:22-23, Isaiah 41:10. (NIV)

Matt. 1:22-23 “All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "the Virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"-which means God with us.” Isaiah 41:10. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

REFLECT:

I am amazed when I think of all the times that God has blessed my life. He expresses his love to us in so many ways. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit he created a way for Jesus Christ to live in us and through us, to share that love with those around us and to those we haven't even met yet. His blessings are endless. This passage reveals an important truth about Jesus. He is both God and human. The infinite, unlimited God took on the limitations of humanity so he could live and die for the salvation of all who would believe in him. Jesus would fulfill the prophecy of Isaiah 7:14, for he would be lmmanuel ("God is with us"). Jesus was God in the flesh; thus, God was literally among us--"with us".

APPLY:

Through the Holy Spirit, Christ is present today in the life of every believer. Thank Christ Jesus for his death on the cross for your sin, then ask him to take control of your life. Your new life begins at that moment.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Father in heaven, I thank you that Jesus came to take away my sin, and through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in me, I ask that you would help me to share his love and grace.  Amen!
