Mutual Support
OPENING PRAYER:
Lord, as we study Your Word today, help us to understand the importance of mutual support in our faith journey. Teach us to rely on each other and to offer support to those in need. Amen.
READ: Ecclesiasties 4:9-10
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.
Ecclesiasties 4:9-10
REFLECT:
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 highlights the value of mutual support. Two are better than one because they can help each other succeed and lift each other up when they fall. This principle is foundational to Christian community. Todd illustrated this with the story of the miners who survived by supporting each other in the cold, hostile environment.
In our spiritual journey, we face many challenges and temptations. Having a community of believers to support us can make all the difference. When we fall, they can help us get back up. When we are weak, they can offer strength. This mutual support is a reflection of God’s design for His people.
Reflect on your own life. Do you have people who can lift you up when you fall? Are you available to support others in their times of need? Mutual support is not just about receiving help but also about being willing to offer help to others.
APPLY:
Today, look for an opportunity to support someone in your community. It could be through a word of encouragement, a helping hand, or a prayer. Be intentional about offering support and being available to those in need.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I WILL take steps to connect to a small group of believers this week.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Lord, thank You for the gift of mutual support. Help me to be a source of encouragement and strength to those around me. Teach me to rely on others and to offer my support willingly. Amen.
