Read This - John 16:33; Luke 2:9-10

John 16:33  "'I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me.  Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.  But take heart, because I have overcome the world.'"

Luke 2:9-10 "Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord's glory surrounded them.  They were terrified, but the angel reassured them.  'Don't be afraid!' he said.  'I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.'"

Think About This - Jesus had a long conversation with his followers, because the time was coming when he would not be with them any longer because he would be dying on the cross. He would then rise from the dead, but soon after that would be going back to heaven. The disciples were afraid and upset because he was leaving. They didn't have peace.

But Jesus reminded them that they could have peace. Even though, he would not be with them in person, he would be with them in Spirit, which would bring them peace. He knew they would have times of difficulty and sorrow, but they could depend on him to bring peace when they had problems.

And so it was with the shepherds, who were frightened at the presence of the angels. The angel told them not to be afraid because Jesus had come and he would make all the difference. He would bring peace.

Talk About This - When was the last time you were afraid, what happened? How can Jesus bring us peace when we are afraid?
