Our World is in Chaos

Below are just a few of the headlines I read this morning as I opened the Associated Press app on my phone:

Nigeria president-elect: Can’t promise to find Chibok girls; Milwaukee motorist, teen shot, killed after van hits child; Fighting in eastern Ukraine rages on overnight despite talks; Attacks kill 20 civilians in and around Baghdad; Over 7,000 migrants rescued off Italy since Friday, EU says; Iran expects delivery of Russian missiles by end of the year; 12-year sentence for Wichita man who trafficked over 6 tons of pot; Nicaragua asks US to remove embassy worker over Ebola worry…

Our world is in chaos but we serve a powerful and awesome God, who sent Jesus to bring hope and healing to a lost world! This month, we’ve invited Rev. Efrem Smith, the President and CEO of World Impact to share in our services on May 16 & 17. World Impact is one of our long-time mission partners, with local offices right here in Wichita, and ministries spanning the inner cities of the U.S. and around the world. We want to give you a taste of what God is up to around the world.

Pathway partners, supported by your gifts and prayers, are serving in urban areas of Wichita, New Orleans and Kansas City here in the U.S.; but around the globe in places like Jakarta, Indonesia; Nairobi, Kenya; Mexico City; Budapest, Hungary and a half-dozen other world-class cities that I can’t mention because it might put our partners there in danger. They are serving the poor, planting churches, educating young people, providing medical care and training leaders. They are expanding the gospel in new and exciting ways, even in the face of danger and difficulty.

There are lots of opportunities locally and globally for you and your Home Team to get involved in following Jesus, in community, for others beyond the neighborhoods that surround Pathway Church. On May 16 & 17, you can meet some of our local partners and find out how you can invest your time and energy “cross-culturally.”

Your neighbors and friends will be interested to find out how they can make a difference around the world. Don’t miss this opportunity to invite them to our weekend services in May!
