It was an amazing week. Three of the girls in Laura’s group accepted Christ that week at camp. The first student made her decision on Wednesday night and shared it with Laura on Thursday. Both of them were giddy with excitement for her new life with Jesus. Laura was so excited, she almost cried when it was shared with her. That same day two other girls made the same decision. One was rededicating her life to Jesus while the other was making the decision for the first time. To celebrate their new decisions, the girls had an ice cream party, played cards, and painted their nails. One of the goals that the girls came up for their time at camp, was: “We will be awesome!” Laura says that they all met that goal every day.
Laura found these decisions to be immensely rewarding. She was excited about the Middle School Ministry like never before. She enjoyed getting to know and genuinely caring for the girls, but this was a reward so much more than friendship. Although these girls weren’t her daughters, Laura felt immensely blessed to be a part of these three students’ decisions for Christ. Laura said, “I’m overwhelmed when I think about how these girls’ lives have been impacted because they attended camp. Eternity has been changed because of their decisions. And God blessed me so much by letting me be a witness to it.” Laura goes on to comment that she cannot take any of the credit because, as she puts it, all she did was “show up and hang out. God gets the glory!”
