Next week is Thanksgiving. Most of us in our church, community, and across the country will be celebrating in our warm homes filled with good food and family. However, there are millions of people, all over our world who will not be celebrating. They will simply be surviving.
Right now there are 65 million people who have been displaced from their homes, more than after World War II and more than at any other time in recorded history. We call them refugees and many of them are living in refugee camps, far away from their homes, just trying to survive.
At the Westlink and Goddard campuses, from November 19-22, we’ll have a Refugee Experience giving you an opportunity to experience a simulated refugee camp. Sign up for a time to go through this experience. There is no cost, and you will have an opportunity to provide a “care kit” for a refugee family in Jordan as part of our Heart2Heart global outreach. This weekend we will focus on this great need in our world and how Pathway is reaching out to make a difference in the coming year. Sign up for the experience and don’t miss attending service this weekend as we share a special message entitled Unloved: Engaging The Refugee Crisis.
As we give thanks in the coming week for all of our blessings, let’s pray and begin to act in ways that share those blessings with people who need to know God’s love.
P.S. Thanks for your great response to our You Asked For It message series. The past four weekends we’ve talked about Heaven and Hell, the election, the Bible’s reliability, along with racism and violence. If you missed any of these messages you can watch them online.
