Last weekend during our services we talked about the shepherds, that God chose the lowest and most despised class of people to hear the first announcement of Jesus’ birth through the angels. It was a reminder that no matter who we are, single, married rich or poor, no matter what we’ve done or how we may feel about ourselves, Jesus came for us! He LOVED us! If you missed attending, you can watch it online.
We all know people around us of all shapes, sizes, and stages in life that need to hear that message this Christmas. If we’re honest, sometimes we’ve just taken for granted the real meaning of Christmas. We just assume that everyone knows and then roll on with our own agenda. Let me challenge you to move away from that agenda this week. Would you invite someone you know to attend a Christmas Eve service with you? Would you stop right now as you read this and pray about the person or family you could invite? Perhaps it’s a neighbor or work colleague that you could share a Christmas treat with along with your invitation. Offer to pick them up for a service or meet them in the Atrium at a time that works best for them. I know it might mean attending another service than the one you normally attend with your family, or it might mean going to another service than the one you had planned to attend. Wouldn’t it be worth it if they had the opportunity to know they are Loved by the God of the Universe?
For Christmas Eve services ,we have multiple opportunities on many days at all our campuses. Choose the service that works best for you and your friends and family.
Let me also encourage you to make a special gift to Pathway Church this Christmas. So much of what happens at Pathway is not something you can put a price tag on in terms of people’s lives that are changed: marriages saved, decisions for Christ, Christian friends made in Home Teams, great Bible teaching and activities for children and students, multiple opportunities for people to serve others in our church, and community. The list goes on and on.
As we finish out the month of December, your gift can help insure that these ongoing ministries and life changing events continue to be available to people in our church and community. When we express generosity based on our relationship with God, it changes us. It draws us closer to Jesus and helps us follow Him more closely and obediently.
In addition to giving at a weekend service, through the mail or online, you may want to give a stock gift this year. Should you have questions about how to do that, please contact Becky Freshour, Operations Director.
All of us at Pathway look forward to sharing the upcoming special services with you this Christmas!
